RECIPIENT INFORMATION

To make sure there isn't any confusion and so we can better serve you, the following is some before-hand information we would like you to consider. If you have any questions at all, please contact us. We are more than happy to answer them for you. The information from this page, a disclaimer, and a computer request form can be downloaded here.

If you would like to fill out a request form online, you can do that here.

  • All computers we have available are donated.

  • Each computer is inspected and tested for defects. Some computers are assembled by our volunteers and are constructed of used/donated parts.

  • Due to the fact these computers and equipment are used, there is no warranty, expressed or implied. Your donated system may last 5 years. It may last 5 minutes. Since there is usually more demand than supply, we cannot offer a warranty or guarantee. Unfortunately, it is most likely that we do not have a replacement readily available for you, should your initial system fail. We ask that you send us a new request for a computer should yours stop working.

  • We do not offer technical support, although we will do our best to make sure you can hook your computer up and that you have enough information to get started using it. This program works on a volunteer basis and we simply do not have the resources to offer technical support. This program simply deals with equipping people with a computer.

  • In the rare case that your donated computer is brand new or still has an existing manufacturer’s warranty, you will be made aware of that information. In nearly all cases there will not be a warranty.

  • Most computers will have Linux installed on them. Linux is a free, yet very powerful operating system that provides the working environment on the computer (it’s like Microsoft Windows). The reason these computers will have Linux instead of Windows, is that in most cases only the computer is donated. Software installation discs and copies of operating systems, like Windows, are usually not included with the donation. In some rare cases the disc is included or the donated computer is new. These situations  are possible but very unlikely. Linux gives us the ability to provide an up-to-date operating system with many free software solutions and it’s reliable. For nearly every program you could ever use or want for Windows, Linux has a comparable solution. Even though the computers may be used, using Linux helps us to make sure you are not left behind technologically.

  • We encourage you to pick up your donated computer at The Eastside Vineyard Church on Sunday morning. This is a way for us to meet you and for you to get to know us and our heart for serving. We do know that this isn’t always possible and we don’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable, so it is possible to make other arrangements as well.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
